  1. Great razor but need pictures

Posted by Ray on 27th Apr 2012

I wanted to get som pictures from som of the owners of the Mergress. The ones who bought the entire product and razor and the one who just bought the upgrade kit. Can you please send me pictures for an original disassimbled Progress and a new disassembled Mergress? IT would also like a pictilure of the upgrade kit for the Progress. This would be so much appriceated. I don't understand what the upgrade does besides change the Horton job from plastic to aluminum.

    Thank you

  2. I can't decide with Mergress I like better

Posted by Stephen H on 19th Mar 2012

I have both the Mergress XL adjustable and the Mergress Long Handle Adjustable. I keep one at home and one in my travel kit. I gotta thank Lee for recommending these to me. I really can't tell you which I like better. For everyday shaving the small gap settings are great. I get a nice smooth, nick free shave. The razor is easy to maneuver around the trouble spots on my face. When I skip a day or two of shaving, I just open the razor up to expose more blade and I still get a great comfortable shave. I tend to use very sharp blades and very little pressure on the blade against my face, as I let the weight of the razor do the work. I have used these razors with a variety of soaps and creams available on Lee's website. No matter what product I am using this is a great razor.

  3. Excellent Razor

    Posted by FJN3 on 7th Mar 2012

I started using a DE razor in January 2012. I wanted to get an adjustable I liked Progress but did not like the plastic knob.

I decided to get an Edwin Jagger de89l, its a nice razor good shave. I still wanted to give an adjustable a try, then I found the Mergress XL. Lee did not have any in stock on the site for about a month so I contacted him via email last Thursday he replied back quickly and informed me he had a few in stock. I gave him a call and he sent me my Mergress XL got it on
Monday. Now that is what I call service.

Lee is a quality guy I am going to buy all my shave gear from Lee from now on.

The Mergress is a great razor good weight and the knob makes it the perfect length. I have only had two shave with it but this razor is excellent.

I am going to get Dad one for fathers day.

  4. Fantastic shaves, consistently

Posted by Dain from Canada on 6th Mar 2012

I have now had this razor for a few months, and I LOVE IT. Something has to be said for the ability to change from a beard chopping mid setting, to finishing with a pass of the lowest setting mid-shave. This gives me consistently great shaves. This razor is now the only one I can ever see using; it's just fantastic.

  5. uneven blade gap

Posted by WAYNE on 30th Jan 2012

This is an Ok razor but the blade gap is uneven on mine...I mistakingly ordered 2 of them and it is the same on both. My Merkur Slant Bar loaded with a mild blade yields a better shave for me...and I have a mild beard with easily irratated skin. NOT WORTH THE PREMIUM PRICE FOLKS!

  6. definitive improvement over an already excellent original

Posted by JS on 12th Jan 2012

I have used the razor only twice having become accustomed to the original and have already noticed some immediate improvements. Main points are the improved weight and balance (which entirely changes shaving technique due to not having to apply a single ounce of force - the razor weight is more than enough)and the perfect fit/function of the blade distance adjustment which is now much more accurate and rugged. Both these adaptations allow for a technique far closer to the "no pressure exerted" which allows you to concentrate on blade angle as you make each pass. The original was good but a little "slapdash" in quality. The Mergress makes major improvements to a sound base taking the razor to a completely different level. Definitely worth the extra price and yes, the changes definitely make for an improvement in your technique. service from Lee was excellent with delivery from USA to UAE in little more than 2 weeks!

  7. I found "My" razor.

    Posted by W.J. on 5th Jan 2012

I started out my DE journey with a Merkur Slant Bar and Feather blades...yes I now know the insanity of this. But the experience did quickly hone my technique. I ordered two of these accidently, and I'm not sending any back, they're that good.If you want a mild razor, this is it...if aggressive is your style, this is it too. I love my Mergress!

  8. Amazingly, Awesome!

Posted by Chevy Chase II on 1st Jan 2012

I started out my DE journey with a Merkur Slant Bar. After the transfusion, I tried the Mersgress XL. Just an awesome tool, it is. I have a face that irratates with an agressive washcloth...and the Mergress just skims across it. Set it to the milder settings, and you can blade buff, j-hook to your hearts desire with no irratation or burning. I mistakingly orderered two Merkurs...gonna keep them both, in case the first one breaks.

  9. A very comfortable and neat razor.

Posted by Chris R on 17th Nov 2011

After trying for some years I finally got my hands on a Mergress and have been using it for aweek or so. I am impressed with the weight andbalance (somewhat closer to the razor head to offset the weight of the metal adjustment ring)as well as how comfortably it shaves on setting 2. I purposely use a relatively mild blade with a new razor - a Perma-Sharp Super and will use an Iridium Super next for comparison. I have been shaving for 50 or so years and am very happy with the Mergress.
Emails from Lee across several times zones and half way round the world were FAST - second to none. Great razor, great service, great company.

  10. WAY too much hype here folks

Posted by Zach on 21st Oct 2011

When you build upon a great razor, you still have a great razor. There is nothing wrong with this razor, and if it makes you happy, by all means acquire one. But to say that there are no other razors before this one is a bit much. Also, if using this razor cures any problems you had before, perhaps you should blame your technique and look at this razor as any cure. This is a top notch razor from a top notch vendor. Is it worth $50 over the original? If it makes you happy, then hell yes. Will it give you a better shave? Absolutely not.
