Loading... Please wait...This razor is considered by many to be the standard for double-edge razors. The 34C has a short-length handle with a larger diameter giving it a hefty feel in your hand while shaving. The added weight and short handle provide a good balance to comfortably achieve the proper cutting angle. It shaves well for all skin types and better than any new modern brands. Very heavy duty. Uses any double edge razor blades. Chrome Finish.
This razor is also featured in the Ultimate Double Edge Setup

Like many, I got tired of high-priced plastic multi-blade disposables and purchased a Merkur HD five years ago. For me, there was a bit of a learning curve (scrapes and nicks) until I finally learned that a light touch is the key. Let the weight of the razor do the work. Re-lather, shave a second time. Take time to take care of the details. I use this razor with Feather blades daily and change the blade very Sunday morning. I use a low-end pure badger brush, quality solid shaving soaps, occasionally a cream or Cremo Cream. I'm a contrarian and shave before my shower with great results. Even after five years, I'm still sometimes amazed at the smooth and close shave I get every day. I doubt I'll ever buy a more expensive razor ad will certainly never go back to plastic.

This is the only way to shave . This shaves closer than any other razor. It might take a little while for you to get the technique down on how to shave with a safety razor, but you will love the results. It will also save you money since the blades last much longer than Mach 3s.

Got this over 2 years ago and haven't shaved with anything else since. It is a perfect 1st DE in my opinion as it is gentle enough, yet still requires good technique. Derby blades are a good place to start with this razor as they are sharp enough yet nice and smooth.
If your new, buy the HD and be done.

Nice, smooth glide on this one thanks most likely to its heavier weight and feel. Its compact size makes it a good gym or travel razor. To all the doubters, the safety razor gives the best all-around shave: closer and more comfortable than cartridge razors. (Still, cartridges have their place.) To do better, you'd need a professional barber and a straight-edge.

This is the 'big guns' - for days of accumulated growth, like a scythe for your face. However, if this is your first saftey razor, be careful - if you rush, you are far more likely to hack your face up - nicks are easy with this blade (Weishi is a far gentler daily shaver). I find the blade replacement a real PITA (screw and fumble with 3 parts), clamshells are so much nicer, and I don't think I'll ever buy a short handled razor again. I only wish Merkur came in a clamshell.

This was my first time trying a DE after years of using disposables. At first I was discouraged because wetshaving did take a bit longer, and I thought maybe I was overhyping the whole thing. I made the mistake of going back to the disposable for a shave and although it was quicker, the irritation was crazy. With this Merkur, I have little to no irritation after a shave.

Set a Merkur next to a plastic disposable. It's not unlike a Mercedes gullwing with lots of crome parked next to a silver painted plastic Toyota ( mine) of today. So, which one will a Magpie fly out the window with ( wieght aside?)
And with minimal care what will LAST in our throwaway culture?
Oh, the above performance reviews are also true.

It's incredible how a DE razor is sooo much better than any cheap 3-5 blade disposable razor. I always thought that more blades mean a better shave....BOY was I wrong! And the good thing is, from now on I'm paying $6 for ten blades, not $30 for a 8-pack Fusion blades. I truly recommend the 34C!

I can't tell you if the other "more advanced" Merkur razors are better, but I love my first and so far only DE razor by Merkur. I was a little scared after reading about the "learning curve" with DE razors. To be honest, it's no big deal at all. It has a different feel, but you will like it better than the multi blade rip-offs very quickly. It has a heavy, sturdy feeling in your hand. Pair this with a good brush, Proraso cream, and Feather razors, you'll enjoy shaving instead of dreading it.

This is the first time that I have bought a safety razor that I can actually keep. A long time ago, I had disposable safety razors which you could just use, and throw away. But now, with this one I get not only genuine quality but a smooth shave each and every time. I just ordered my razor last sunday and received it yesterday, I can't wait to use it and see how it feels especially with the personna blades that I ordered.
