      This is also my first razor. I didn't find it slippery all. Only gave it 4 stars though, because I have no other DE razor to compare it to. However, it is giving me - hands down - the best shaves I've ever had. Don't know if it's the razor or just to 2 folks that have posted reviews, but Derbys seem to work best for me in this razor as well (got the sampler package when I bought it).

      This is my first safety razor. It is well balanced, well made and classy looking. Unlike the chrome one the handle is smooth and can feel slippery at times, but not often enough to sacrifice its looks for the chrome one. It does come with one merkur blade. I bought derby extras and these seem to work nice in the razor.*
