first time I tried a "low lather" cream

The directions say you only need a nickel sized amount to shave and they are right. You rub it on your skin with your fingers and even though there is hardly any lather, that little amount covers your face and neck. This stuff keeps its moisture and lubrication qualities through the entire shave. Which isn't the case with all creams and soaps. Its got a nice fragrance and it yields a very nice shave. Plus as a bonus, since it easily applies without a brush, if you travel with it, you don't need to bring your brush along.
