It is my first DE razor, so I don't have anything to compare it to. However, I really like it. The Twist to Open (TTO) mechanism works pretty good and the handle is ornate, heavy and easy to hold (not as easy as a rigid Merkur, but those are less attractive). I take off a star because of the durability and blade alignment. I dropped it and the head bent slightly. Not enough to ruin it, but I was disappointed it bent. Maybe that's normal, I mean, I did drop it. The other is the blade alignment when you close it. You need to ensure the blade sits evenly. Again, that could be common among TTO and blade manufacturers. Overall, I'm VERY happy with my Parker 82R. For the price, I would buy it again.
Better than the oldies

Everyone says they don't make em like they used too. This one is better than the old gillettes I have. It is heavier, has a long handle and built like a tank compared to my old safety razors. This is the best butterfly open razor I've seen ever.
