12 March 2008New From Dovo!
If you're in the know, then you're already saavy to Merkur's newest addition to the Barberpole line of razors, but if not then we are elated to present to you seven new additions to the site. Last May Merkur introduced the 38C razor whose design abstracts that of a barberpole, and it has been enjoyed by all. It provides solid heft, a sturdy knurled handle, and the same great shaving head that Merkur has perfected over all these years. This March we hare pleased to announce some additions to this line including the NOW AVAILABLE slant head style. Shipping later this month are the multicolored 38Cs offered in the classic barberpole red and blue as well as matching brushes and a four piece shaving set including stand, cup, brush, and razor. We're very excited to for their arrival, and can't wait to pass them along. Please email us with any questions you may have!

29 January 2008Fantastic New Additions, and Coming Soon, Truefitt & Hill Products!
We're constantly scouring the internet for quality shaving products, and one company that we've had our eyes on for a while is Truefitt & Hill. Established in 1805 in London, Truefitt & Hill carries with it the tradition of an original Old Bond Street Barber Shop, and their products are simply amazing. If it's a traditional shave you're after, then Truefitt & Hill is what you're looking for. From the old world scents to the thick rich lather Truefitt & Hill will bring out the true gentleman in you. Keep your eyes peeled for their products as they are coming soon!
Also new to the site from yet another old world gentleman's toiletry company are three new shaving bags from Trumper's. The leather on these bags are so soft and will just get better with age. They have durable zippers, and are built to handle your razors, brushes, and soaps for when you travel. They are truely gorgeous.
Yet another item we're putting on special is a Merkur travel set that comes complete and ready to go with Merkur Futur razor, matching finish badger brush, a pack of merkur blades, and a soft, supple, and yet durable travel case. Originally priced at $169.99, we're reducing the price to a staggering $129.99. This means for the low price of $129.99 you can have a great shaving set to travel with, or give as a gift. You just can't go wrong!
And finally we've added Derby's Moisturizing Super Shave Cream, in four different varieties. Priced at $3.50 these tubes are great for travel. The light scents are pleasing to the olfactory senses, and the lathering will keep your face protected as you shave. Offered in Menthol, Lemon, Lavender, and Unscented.

15 January 20083 Weeks Into 2008, & the clocks are still running forward.
So thank you everyone for your Holiday orders. Each year has brought me better business, more clients, and with that good friendships. Towards the end of last year I was working with Phillip of Vulfix fame to design a new brush specifically for shaving soaps. As most of my customers know I shave almost exclusively with soaps as I find it suits my face better. It was with that motivation that I set out to create a brush designed specifically for shaving with soaps, and after a few trial and error runs but thankfully no nicks or cuts, we are able to present to you The Brand New Vulfix 660 Improved Shaving Soap Brush. It comes in three sizes as well as being offered in Super or Pure Badger. I hope you'll find the experience as satisfactory as I have, and I urge everyone who is a soap shaver to try one today!
Happy Shaving!

06 November 2007At Least We Waited Till After Halloween
So I've packed away our pumpkins, and cleaned up all the shaving cream and fake blood from my driveway, but unlike your local chain pharmacy I was able to contain myself from commencing our holiday specials till after Halloween. (I'd be lying however if I said the thought never crossed my mind). Anyhow, I've spent some time putting together some packaged specials for the holidays that I think you're going to like. There's something for everyone. Whether you've never shaved with a double edged blade before, or you're a seasoned pro, you'll find some enticing deals here. If you have any suggestions for other packages let me know, and I'll see what I can come up with.
This year we're confident that we're going to convince Santa to shave with a Lee's HD. We're still working out the kinks, but I think we're close to an endorsement. I'll keep everyone posted.
Happy Shaving!
P.S. The cold weather is almost here! Time to stock up on Santa Maria Novella shaving cream, the perfect match for cold wind on your face.
30 October 2007The Barber Combs On Parade!
Pssst, here's a little secret. Those razors that look like the have combs on them are really smooth shavers. They're not just for people who look like Ernest Hemingway, or Santa Claus. See most people think that the comb actually leaves stubble, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They give the same close shave as their safety bar counterparts. The benefit of the comb is two fold. First, it doesn't wisk away all the cream like a safety bar would, and second, if you have a bit of a heavier stubble, they guide the hairs into the blade. They are a fantastic addition to any vanity.
Now here's a secret combo that I heard about last week for those of you who can wield a Merkur Slant, and from what my webmaster says it's his new routine. Start with a a barber comb. He prefers the long handled light feel of a 25C, but any of the barber combs would suffice. He does about two to three passes using the barber comb, then finishes with a few wisks of the Merkur Slant. Remember, it's not for the faint of heart, but in the right hands, it's a fiersome tool.
So there you have it. It's our first recomended shave of the month. If you've got any tips or tricks that you want to share with us, let us know, and if we feel it's worthy, we'll share it with everyone else.
Happy Shaving!
P.S. The new Dovo straight edges are here!
